dbarrow's Review of Leons BarBQ

  • Spare Rib: Spicy, flavorful and tender – nuff said.
  • Hot Link: Flavorful explosion with a very nice, slow burn, this is the kind of stuff I’m looking for.
  • Sides: Slaw is different, but not bad. Tater salad is good stuff.
  • Sauce: This is some of the best stuff I’ve ever had. Very balanced with a nice slow burn. I bought some to take home.
  • Pork Loin: This stuff is good but it is cut too thin.
  • Beef: This is not brisket, same stuff he uses on his Po boys, so it’s not the right thickness.
  • Atmosphere: 1st non-Texas joint on the 3rd year of touring. Right part of town and it looks like it could house some damn fine Q. Probably in an old service station or auto service location. Owner and pit boss are very friendly, but this place is more set up for Po boys instead of BBQ. It also just happens to be right next to the free donut stop (at least for BBQ tour aficionados)
