Though the years, here's what I've learned:  Barbecue soothes the soul.  It's simple in philosophy and rich in tradition.  It's an art and a craft, a love and a passion.

Peace, Love, and Barbecue

ssweeney's Review of The Swinging Door

  • Brisket: Good bark and smoke ring. Firm & lean; doesn't pull apart as easily as it should. A little tough.
  • Quotable: 'This beer is so cold, it'll hurt your teeth when you drink it.'

  • Sauce: Tangy with Worchestershire.
  • Sides: PS is creamy with dill. CS is very good with raisins... somewhat sweet. Beans feature chili powder and onions; good but a little strange with the 'Q. Not a good compliment to the rub.
  • Sausage: Good flavor! Although it is near store-bought consistency.
  • Atmosphere: We're back in pecan country again! Pecan grove across the street. Quaint, ranch-style place. Nice folk, but... loses points due to aggie signs featuring a steer with cut horns. Table service.
  • Spare Rib: Great texture. Needs a tug to separate from bone. Really nice blend of smoke/meat.
