Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.
ssweeney's Review of KB Bar B Que
Weighted Overall
Main Fare:
- Brisket is stand-up style, with a nice spice in the rub. Some bitterness in the meat.
- Sausage has a good meaty flavor - like homeade bologna or salami. Creosote.
- Rib's black coating = creosote. Sweet glaze helps to cut the bitterness.
Other Fare:
- Baked beans are sweet with a hint of cloves. Nice!
- Baked potato casserole is chock ful 'o sour cream & cheese. Gooey goodness here.
- Potato salad is another solid homeade recipe.
- Slaw is minced very fine.
- Fried yeast rolls are yummy. Especially good for sopping up their sauce.
- The sauce has a bunch of cloves & cinnamon. Reminds me of Riscky's in Fort Worth, which K-Dawg called "The wassail of barbecue sauces". Very different.
Atmosphere:
- Local cafe probably moved from its original location on the other side of 69. Focus is on comfort food, with barbecue also on the menu here.
- Old gas station or jiffy lube... large overhead doors are still visible.
- Service was pleasant, if a little clueless.
- They get very busy as we are finishing our meal. Boss lady can't get away for a pit tour. She looks stressed!
