Smoke Daddy's Review of Pit Stop Barbecue

Sausages were outstanding, and brisket very good.  Pair with the baked beans and finish with the homeade cobbler.  Solid joint... we'll need to schedule a Friday visit next time so we can try the ribs.

MAIN FARE:Pit Stop Spread

  • Brisket - Well smoked.  Thick cut.  Lean has a firm texture and is very good.  Fatty cut is also very good.
  • Sausage - Texture is a little more coarse than Carter's Station, but comes from the same maker.  This is excellent sausage, and NOT the run-of-the-mill commercial stuff that is too common in this region of the state.
  • Hot Link - All beef.  Insides are soft & spicy.  Comes from a different supplier... "No one else has this sausage".

  • Baked Beans - Sweet & thick, but with a tangy zest. Very good.
  • Pintos - Thick sauce with onions.  Good.
  • Potato Salad - Standard mustard-based, with some sweetness.
  • Cobbler - Mushy, but good.

ATMOSPHERE:Pit Stop Pit Boss

  • Nice folks, and this is not their first rodeo.  Previously sold BBQ at Texas Motor Speedway.
  • Fairly new joint in 2006... it should get better with time!
  • Serving in plastic baskets lined with butcher paper. Plastic utensils.
  • Great pit appeal!  In the "corral" out front.
  • Not using mesquite here... hauling hickory on a regular basis.
  • Disappointed we missed Rib Day on Friday
  • Saturday is Crawfish Boil Day... that's a new one for us!
